A dissertation study surveying broadcasters’ attitudes toward older adults, one of the major groups of television news consumers in the country. Hilt questions general managers and news directors in regards to the elderly and their issues and compares their attitudes with those of other occupational groups. Surprisingly, as evidenced by the study, older adults appear not to be as crucial an influence on television news programming as might be assumed.
